To contact our emergency services, please either telephone the number provided above or contact our usual telephone number 01904 782033.
Our landline will be diverted to our 24/7 emergency line and you will automatically be directed to our ‘out of hours’ on call vet or nurse.
Please note, we are a small private practice and the majority of the time we will only have one vet covering all out of hours calls.
Please only phone the surgery out of hours, if you believe it is an genuine emergency.
The vet or nurse on call, will not be located at the Acomb surgery and therefore may not have access to your pet’s medical records.
We do offer a 24/7 emergency cover for all registered and non registered clients. In the unfortunate event that your pet needs emergency care, outside of our regular surgery hours, rest assured we are able to provide any help that is required.
All Blue Cross and general enquires, will not be dealt with over the phone, if they are out of normal surgery times.
Overnight Care
All our in-patients requiring overnight care are supervised and monitored through out the night by the duty vet on call.
Please note, If your pet needs to stay in with us overnight the vet and nurse, who has been dealing with your pet during the day will pass on all the relevant details to the duty vet.
The duty vet then will decide how often during the night your pet needs to be checked by them or a nurse.
The frequency of checks will depend on your pet’s condition & individual requirements (fluid therapy, need for pain relief injections etc).
Whilst the duty vet will check your pet as often as they feel necessary, there is no vet or nurse on the premises overnight. If there is any significant change in your pet’s condition the on call vet or nurse will contact you. .
In-patient care costs are normally included in the total for your pet’s procedure unless otherwise advised by the vet at the time.
Pets will be left alone overnight after a final check up by the vet at approximately 10pm until opening up the following morning.
However, there is a Webcam/CCTV camera on the kennels which can be accessed 24/7 by the vet through his mobile phone to ensure that your pet can be monitored throughout.
Alternatively, if you would prefer to have a nurse stay with your pet overnight to monitor and update you through the night on their condition and treatment, this can be arranged for an addition cost of £500.00, per night.
Please note, you will need to chec k with your insurance company, if your policy will cover for this additional charge.
