Dating from the 15th century, this half-timbered pub with rooms is a block from the River Foss, a 10 minute walk from York Castle and a 5-10 minute walk from Jorvik Viking Centre.
Our traditional rooms all include en-suite bathrooms and antique, 4-poster beds with rich draperies. Parking and breakfast are complimentary.
We boast a wood panelled restaurant with coffered ceilings and an open fireplace where we serve food daily, and two beer gardens where you can relax with a drink when the sun comes out.

Folk Club
The Black Swan Folk Club has been a hub for folk and acoustic music for over 40 years, hosting top UK and international artists alongside emerging talent, with monthly open-mic nights. Awarded Folk Club of the Year in 2009 and named Outstanding Yorkshire Music Club, it meets Thursdays at 7:45 pm, runs larger concerts at the National Centre for Early Music, and holds the annual free City of York Folk Weekend in June, filling the inn and its grounds with live music and events.
